Before I design any of my collections, I spend a few days at the New York Public Library at Bryant Park. The photo files there are a great source of inspiration. I look through what seems like millions of photographs from their archives to check out clothing and costumes from various cultures and historical periods. This year, traditional, clean Asian lines, cool Tibetan shorts and even Victorian children's clothing are what peaked my interest most. Tibetan shorts, for example, inspired the closures for the pants and shorts I designed for my Spring 2007 collection. I like to use certain elements from the past to create very feminine, yet modern, pieces that even a tomboy or surfer girl would want to wear.
