The East River Park Tennis Courts are under the Williamsburg Bridge, just east of FDR Drive. My favorite sport is actually surfing, but that's impossible to do in the city, so I made tennis my New York sporting activity of choice. I was on the tennis team back in high school, so I try to maintain my skills while playing with a few of my girlfriends. It's not tennis like it used to be growing up in Connecticut, with all white attire—I call this "ghetto-tennis" because it comes complete with the honking cars, and you can hear the trains too. With scenery like this, you definitely can't forget you're in the city—but that's half the fun. Surprisingly, the location offers some of the most stunning views of the East River, I promise that it will make you forget all about the nearby FDR.
