In one of the city's most vibrant and creative neighborhoods, a new Brooklyn Ikon is being born.
Unique as it is animated, the pulsating energy that drives the artistic community of Williamsburg has attracted a diverse and elite crowd of young professionals in recent years. With a rich history that dates back to 1852, the resurgence of a modern Williamsburg ensures that everything old is new again.
Enter the Ikon, a new influential residential building, set alongside the magnificent 35 acres of McCarren Park, that is bringing that very idea to life. Inspired by its extraordinary surroundings, this is luxury living.
"The Ikon was a challenge in that the existing building, although quite run down had a lot going for it," says architect Karl Fisher who let his imagination and inspiration fly as he fused a historic structure with his vision of contemporary living. "First, the location is magnificent—the park, the open space, the unique shape of the building, the potential of the high loft spaces and, of course, the view, view, view." About the four-story futuristic glass and metal dwelling he inspiringly married to the previous brick façade, he says, "It is much more rewarding to work with an existing building and breathe new life into it. The first time I stepped on the roof of 50 Bayard Street and saw that interrupted 360 degree view of McCarren Park, Williamsburg and the entire Manhattan skyline, I was amazed."
With good reason. Once outside you step into a bustling community. Here, you'll find a bevy of beautiful and stylish people, dozens of cutting-edge boutiques, street upon street of outstanding restaurants, blossoming music venues and a textured art scene, from street art to world class galleries, that are as edgy as it is imaginative.
Inside the Ikon you'll find sweeping views, lavish amenities and a sense of belonging where your every desire has been accounted for in its own sleek and chic design. Whether you are watching the New York skyline light up for the night or a quiet sunrise whispering through the trees of the park in the early morning, you'll feel stimulated, stirred, moved. And most impressively, at home.
"I am really excited about how unusual this project is," continues Fisher. "It has a bit of the old and the new. It is not a box, there's real diversity in the units. In addition the Ikon is representative of the younger crowd that has gravitated to Williamsburg and the reason they gravitated here. Williamsburg is a great community and I do believe it is only going to grow stronger. For the people that live in the building I have designed, I hope they appreciate and understand the energy, the thinking and the heart and soul that went into it."
Icons are admired. Icons are visionary. Icons are prolific. Icons stand for something. Ikon is you. Combine a rich history and your own bright future at 50 Bayard Street. We can't imagine settling for anything less.
