The Brown Bag Lunch Lectures at the MOMA are my favorite cultural events, followed by a visit to the café overlooking the sculpture garden. I've been attending them ever since I have lived in New York, although it's getting more difficult to sneak out for lunch! The program is great because the lectures last less than an hour and you can bring your lunch and zoom back to work. The crowd is filled with art lovers, corporate-types and retirees. I have attended lectures on Cezanne's Bathers, Picasso's Demoiselles D'Avignon, one the most compelling paintings in the MoMA's collection, and the relationship between Matisse and Picasso. All you need to do to go is get the schedule on www.moma.org and show up with your lunch and $5!
