About
Le Sous-Sol is a new LES boutique opened by stylist and costume designer Linda Belkebir, which deals only Belgian designers, something very new to the American market. For the industry, Belgian designers are always the real deal, non- commercial, great design integrity, always an edge to it. Linda travels to Antwerp and Bruxelles to buy young talent like A.F Vandervorst, or Jean Paul Knott (ex of YSL), or less known up and comer Jessie Lecompte (ex of Dries Van Noten). The space is cool, with this amazing stone wall that looks almost Frank Lloyd Wright-ish (by pure accident perhaps), and I just love the way it opens your mind up to new aesthetics. You put on a shirtdress that doesn’t necessarily have much hanger appeal, but then on, it transforms! Very, very original!
