Some of my favorite places to go in New York, even though I can't afford it, is to shop the wonderful flea markets we have here. My favorite being the one on 39th and 9th Avenue. You can always find good stuff there or see a famous person. You can just stroll, and browse clothing, furniture, and home décor. It can be a bit pricey for a flea market, but what do you expect when you are in New York? I've gotten great textiles, dresses, even a crystal balls there. It's just fun all around. Or you can try the other flea markets around 26th Street. You can find some really good deals and because New York is such a hub of culture, the selection of the antiques and collectibles are a lot more interesting than you would find elsewhere. You can just browse and get inspired by that.

If you want to see an up-to-date and accurate list of other flea markets in NYC, check out this page on the site Here Be Old Things
I created it because most information on the web about the city’s flea markets is out of date, even listing markets that closed years ago.

Sorry about the repost, but I recently wrote a profile this market: Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market: vintage clothes shopping destination. The Garage is supposed to be closing this year, so maybe the ranks of this flea will swell.

Great photo with the Tibetan prayer scarves or whatever they are. Very colorful and textured.
