What I love about the Bowery Ballroom is that it's tiny, so it always feels like you're standing right in front of the stage even if you're all the way at the back by the bar. Plus they have the upstairs, so if you're small like my wife—she's 5'2"—and can't stand in the back of the floor and see anything, you can head up there. She can see perfectly upstairs. It's in a great neighborhood, the Lower East Side, and they book shows I love—the bands who are just starting to become known, they're bands that are just starting to break. I've seen more good shows at the Bowery Ballroom than probably anywhere else in New York.
