Doug Jaeger Says

Xicala is a tapas place with a menu of salty, yummy, awesome stuff with an excellent wine list. Originally, I think it was the wait bar to Cafe El Portal. Over time they doubled the size of Xicala and knocked out the store next door. Now they have a nice little spot where you can get wine basically right on the street. It's a great date place, very romantic if you're looking for that kind of thing. They have a chocolate fondue with bananas and strawberries that's great. It's good for a light dinner or it's a place that you go to meet up for a little tapas before going on to dinner.

They really didnt like black people that much. I’m not black, but I mean… they were really rude to an African people who were in there (sitting at a table adjacent to me). The waitress who was very polite and accomodating while serving my wife and I was rude and condescending to them. I wasn’t watching too intently, however I did note that her tone darkened (no pun intended) when she was serving the couple. Every time she would walk away from their table she would mumble something under her breath. On one occasion the young woman walked by another waitress, and made such a comment quietly and they both looked and chuckled. The couple she was being rude to was also very, very nice and courteous. The Waitress’s attitude was entirely unwarranted. It appears that race relations in this country have a long, long way to go. Especially in this restaurant.
