Ben Freedman Gent's Furnishings is one of those really crazy places on Orchard Street in the so-called bargain district. I guess it used to be a garment district and Ben Freedman is one of those leftovers. They have a lot of men's suits there. Once I was looking for a bunch of ironic polyester men suits. When I walked in Ben's it was like walking into a completely different time period—the prices, clothes, colors, and the service are from a different time period. I was just really excited about the actual suits they had and the fact that the jackets were $50. They were real brands, but it was as if they had taken samples or defective suits and had them available. The prices were insane. I bought four complete suits including vest and ties that fit really well and they recommend a great tailor across the street who was fast and really good. I don't know if it's the kind of suit that a stock broker or a day trader would wear, but definitely if you're on the creative side it's a great place to go. The prices and the variety were unbelievable. Cool patterned ties for $5.87. It's really fun if you ever feel like you have an extra $100 extra and you want to have an outfit that you could just totally destroy.
