Manitoba's is the home base for a lot of the roller girls. It's a punk rock kind of place, good music, cheap booze, very friendly bartenders who know how to deal with people.

You can't find a lot of the little punk rock bars that you used to anymore, because so many things have gone upscale. There are some nice holes around that are very sleezy, and that's great, but this one has an old school feel. Also you can go there by yourself and not get picked on basically, and the music is excellent. There was an article in The New Yorker about Janet Reno and how her nephew is involved there somehow, so there was this little thing in the "About Town" section of The New Yorker that was like "Janet Reno, hanging out at Manitoba." How awesome is that?
