Churchill

Bio by Jessica Henderson

Actress and socialite Annie Churchill is a classic New York story. With her hand stirring many pots—which includes the charity circuit, scripting and starring in a new half-hour comedy series about how a famous young actress juggles her newfound fame and the family that didn't approve of her choices, and appearing in the highly-anticipated The Nanny Diaries—she's exceptionally well cast. Raised in the city and Oyster Bay, the brunette beauty admits that in terms of lifestyle, the fictionalized ventures do a good job of capturing her jam-packed New York life. "I get most of my inspiration from the energy of the nightlife here," says Churchill. "Creatively I do my best work late at night, I've had so much fun creating these characters. Each night in New York takes on its own identity, and there is always a new person to meet, which I love. It is never boring here and I learn so much from those around me. I just love people watching—it's fascinating."

Luckily, there's plenty of public surveillance for the starlet to soak up in her very own neighborhood. "I love lower 5th Avenue, or, as they call it—The Gold Coast—since it still has a bit of an uptown feel. All the buildings are so beautiful, it's just a cool mix."

Mixing up her own life, Churchill generously throws herself into various charities. "I support things I truly feel passionate about," she explains, such as the environmental organization that she is currently co-founding to encourage New York City buildings to become more environmentally sound by working with green builders. She also urges any young New Yorker to embrace the numerous opportunities they have to contribute. "Anyone who is interested in a particular cause should get in touch with an organization to express what they want to do. There are so many different levels in charity work, you can do as little or as much as you like," says Churchill.

When she's not working or giving back, the fashionable Churchill—she even had her own clothing line, AnGil, with friend Gillian Hearst—enjoys chilling out with her boyfriend, TV producer Andy Albert. "I love watching films and television, reading, hiking, sketching and all kinds of music." But the real apple of her eye is her Wheaten Terrier, Groucho. "We are so in love with him. He also lives up to his name—he is probably one of the quirkiest dogs ever."

Whatever business she's involved in each day, we know Churchill is doing it with grace and style. And like a multi-talented, modern day Audrey Hepburn, we can't wait to see what she's up to next.
